BRIEF
“How might we design experiences that rally citizen power and empower citizens in participatory democracy and development of civilisation? How can the citizens’ voice be amplified?”
The brief asked students to demonstrate the ability to conduct meaningful user research and design experiences with considered context. Adopting a user-centered design process, target citizens and their needs were required to be identified, considering their cultural, historical, and environmental context. The user experience proposed can take form(s) in physical and digital platforms. Understanding of visual design principles, information architecture, and user flows needed to be demonstrated. Eventually, a high-fidelity prototype would be delivered.
SOLUTION
Piggy Pocket is an accessible financial experience targeting young adults transitioning to financial independence. It aimed to improve their financial wellbeing through meaning-making budgeting, saving, and donation. It was evidenced that young adults were not equipped with the essential financial knowledge and management skills through parental and curriculum education. This could lead to deterioration of personal wellbeing, a wide range of social issues, and cross-generational impacts. Financial wellbeing is never personal. Hence, an omnichannel experience spanning micro-application embedded in existing banking apps, wallet integration, and donation public installation were prototyped to rally citizen power innovatively.
